Maintenance and repairs is part of important components of ensuring that your machines serve you well.  When your machines are at their optimum, you get efficiencies from their operations.  Hydraulic equipments also need repairs when they have breakdowns.

Types of Hydraulic Equipment

You may have equipment at home or workshop and not aware that it operates through a hydraulic system – liquid power. When these equipment have a problem in their hydraulic system, you need to get hydraulic professionals to do the repairs. Some of the hydraulic equipment or systems include:

  • Hydraulic pumps
  • Excavators
  • Loaders or skids
  • Backhoes
  • Cranes
  • Aluminium and plastic extruders

In this equipment, the hydraulic system is supported or works through various components. Some of the main components include valves, pumps, hoses or pipes and tubes, reservoir, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic pump, actuators, and filters.

Often, when the hydraulic system is not working, it is these components that need to be repaired or replaced.  Due to the size of some of the hydraulic equipment, onsite repair services are preferred.

Signs of Breakdown

Depending on the specific type of equipment, there are several signs that indicate your machine needs hydraulic repairs. Some of the common signs include loud noises or abnormal sound. Although a typical hydraulic equipment has a lot of fluid running through it and therefore create noise, the pumps can reduce the levels of noise. Loud noises may indicate wearing out or breakdown of your hydraulic pump.

Another common sign is leakages. If you spot drops of water from the equipment, you need to have hydraulic repairs done to the system.

In addition, if your equipment has served you for a good number of years, the parts or components may start to wear out. You may have to do regular repairs until all affected parts are either repaired or replaced.

Mistakes to Avoid Making

In order to ensure that your hydraulic equipment is in god condition and minimize repairs required, there are several mistakes you should avoid making.

Do not operate your hydraulic equipment when it gets too hot. Operating the machine while in such a condition destroys the systems components, hoses, and seals.

Also, don't use the wrong type of oil. Power in a hydraulic system is transferred through oil. In addition, the oil acts as a lubricant. You must use oil that has the right viscosity for the climate the machine operates in. If you use oil that has a viscosity that is very high for the climate, there will be no proper flow of the oil. If you use oil that is too low in viscosity, the required minimum viscosity will not be maintained.

How to Retool Your Industrial Workshop

Hello! Welcome to my blog. My name is Christopher. I inherited an industrial workshop from my late father-in-law. I have worked in industrial manufacturing all my life so I was pleased to finally have a workshop of my own. However, the tools and equipment in the workshop were past their best. I decided that the entire workshop would need to be retooled and new equipment would need to be purchased. A friend in the industry recommended a supply company and they sent out an agent who inspected my workshop and recommended the best types of tools and equipment to upgrade everything properly.
