When you are preparing to export your products it's important to work out the most efficient and cost effective way to get them to your buyers. Using ISPM15 (the International Standard for Pallet Manufacture) can be an important way of minimising your costs.

Efficient transfer through customs

ISPM15 pallets have been heat treated, fumigated and de-barked so that the home country can be sure that the goods will pass through customs without any holdups. This can be very important because it means that you can get your goods to the customer quicker and that there will be less hold up on the wharves or warehouses. If your products degrade over time or heat (such as a food product or cosmetics) then this can be very important as you don't want your goods to arrive heat damaged and require replacement.

Efficiency in rental costs

As ISPM is an international standard you can integrate pallet 'rental' costs into the cost of the products that you are buying. The customer can either return these to a branch in their country, of the company that you have hired from, or can reuse or resell these pallets. This reduces your costs and creates less waste at the customer's end as they don't have to break down the pallets you have sent and dispose of the broken wood. This can be a great option rather than purchasing one time only use pallets.

Efficiency in handling

By using standardised pallet sizes, the pallets can be lifted with the same equipment which can be used for all of the different customers with whom the warehouse or wharf is interacting. This reduces the time spent in handling and as a result, your goods will arrive in better condition and less time will be spent in transferring and changing equipment in the warehouse. This can be a huge benefit as long distance travel can cause even the most robust items to be damaged in transit.

If you are looking at starting to export good from your business overseas it can be a good idea to plan out which types of pallets and packaging you will be choosing. The right pallets can save you a lot of money and help your goods to get through transportation and customs as quickly as possible and in the right condition. Choosing ISPM15 pallets can ensure that your business has the most efficient and cost-effective pallets.

How to Retool Your Industrial Workshop

Hello! Welcome to my blog. My name is Christopher. I inherited an industrial workshop from my late father-in-law. I have worked in industrial manufacturing all my life so I was pleased to finally have a workshop of my own. However, the tools and equipment in the workshop were past their best. I decided that the entire workshop would need to be retooled and new equipment would need to be purchased. A friend in the industry recommended a supply company and they sent out an agent who inspected my workshop and recommended the best types of tools and equipment to upgrade everything properly.
